Vision and values
At Woodingdean Primary school, we are committed to nurturing and developing inspired, curious, independent and well-rounded children with the self-belief to fulfil their potential.
Be The Best You
Learn to love yourself as you are
Do what’s right for you, don’t feel you have to copy others
Whole child development/holistic
Inspired
Filling the children with the desire or ability to do something or to ‘have a go.’ To encourage, stimulate and motivate their thoughts and actions. To help our children become great at something. Looking to be better for a brighter future
Curious
Our children are inquisitive, questioning, inquiring, eager to know and learn. Hands on learners and keen to learn about the world around them.
Independent
Capable of thinking or acting for yourself
Self-sufficient, self-reliant, free thinking
Well-rounded
Providing opportunities for children to have knowledge and experience in a range of areas to encourage them to broaden their interests, experience and skills and be fully developed in all aspects.
An understanding and acceptance of differences and an awareness of their responsibility as global citizen.
Self-belief
Being self-assured and having self-confidence and belief in their own ability and judgement. Encouraging children to ‘have a go’ and not worry about failure. To believe in themselves and to learn from mistakes.
Fulfil Your Potential
To encourage children to achieve as much as their natural ability allows.
Values Leaves
Every week, during celebration assembly, a child from each class receives a values leaf to put on our tree. This will reflect a value that they have shown during the week and our tree gets more beautiful as the year progresses.
The colour of the leaf represents a value voted on by the whole school community in Autumn 2021 - Respectfulness, Creativity, Kindness, Resilience, Honesty, Loyalty
