Intent
At Woodingdean Primary School, we provide children with stimulating, fully inclusive science opportunities to understand a rapidly evolving world. We want our children to experience a wider knowledge and discovery of how their world works, building inquisitive, resilient and independent but collaborative learners and thinkers.
Implementation
At Woodingdean Primary School we aim to:
- INSPIRE by developing a thirst for learning in finding out why things happen in the way they do.
- EXPLORE by investigating creatively the ever-changing world around us and using scientific methods to follow lines of enquiry and draw meaningful conclusions.
- ENGAGE by providing an exciting, immersive, practical, structured, science curriculum.
- DEEPEN by gaining a solid understanding, enabling our children to stretch their knowledge and to further develop independent inquiry.
Impact
A scientist leaving Woodingdean Primary School will leave with an enquiring mind and a strong understanding of the world around them whilst acquiring specific skills and knowledge to help them think scientifically, to gain an understanding of scientific processes and also an understanding of the uses and implications of Science; today and for the future.
