“What Does It Matter What We Believe, as long as we treat others the way we want to be treated?” ?
At Woodingdean Primary School, we provide children with creative and enjoyable opportunities to understand our multi-cultural and diverse world. We want our children to appreciate and respect others by learning about their beliefs, customs and traditions and how they influence their daily lives.
At Woodingdean Primary School we aim to:
- INSPIRE by developing a curiosity to want to find out more about how and why different people act as a result of their beliefs , culture and Religion.
- EXPLORE by gaining a tangible understanding of the 6 main religions* and how people of faith who follow them may act in society as a result of their beliefs.
- ENGAGE by providing a creative, immersive and reflective RE curriculum with as many first hand or real life experiences as possible.
- DEEPEN by allowing opportunities for children to reflect on what they have learnt and consider why it is essential to be aware of the needs and wishes of others as an integral part of their daily lives.
All children will be more informed about their position in the world, and the decisions they can make impacting their future. All children in school will be able to talk confidently about their well being, moral and cultural development for the society in which they live. The RE curriculum will promote inquisitive minds, respect, tolerance and understanding for all those around them including themselves. Impact will be seen by all teachers and children enjoying the experience of teaching and learning RE and understanding how it can help them in their future.
