Geography
“It seems to me that the natural world is the greatest source of excitement; the greatest source of visual beauty, the greatest source of intellectual interest. It is the greatest source of so much in life that makes life worth living.” - David Attenborough

Intent
At Woodingdean Primary School, we provide an inclusive, exploratory Geography curriculum that inspires children’s curiosity about the world and its people. Our teaching equips pupils with knowledge about diverse places, people, resources and natural and human environments, together with a deep understanding of the Earth’s key physical and human processes.
Implementation
At Woodingdean Primary School we aim to:
- INSPIRE by providing rich learning opportunities, which ignite a passion for learning about our world and develop each child’s natural curiosity.
- EXPLORE by creatively investigating a range of places (both in the UK and the wider world) to develop their knowledge of the Earth’s human and physical processes.
- ENGAGE by using creative, enjoyable and collaborative approaches to bring Geography alive and give children the opportunity lead their own learning.
- DEEPEN by continually revisiting geographical skills and knowledge in order to fully develop each child’s understanding so that they reach their full potential and become confident learners.
Impact
A geographer leaving Woodingdean Primary School will show an increasing awareness of their role as a global citizen and a curiosity to discover more about the worlds wonders and threats it faces. In addition, our children will leave with an increased confidence in their geographical skills that will ready them for life as an adult in the wider world.
